Object description :

"René Juste (1868-1954) Garden Under The Snow. Crozant School, Guillaumin Creuse Detroy Joseph"
New ad and new photos after cleaning and restoration of the work by a professional, I re-posted an ad because I deleted the one posted online the day before yesterday without wanting to. Superb oil on canvas by René Juste representing a snowy landscape, signed lower right + titled on the back on an old label probably following an exhibition 'René Juste and what I believe to read the gardener's house' Size of the canvas alone without frame 50x61cm and 62x74cm including frame This is therefore a very beautiful post-impressionist composition by René Juste who paints here one of his favorite subjects, a snowy landscape where we see a balustrade in the foreground, then a garden and houses in the background. It could perhaps be the painter's house in Grosrouvre (78) because the painter very often represented it, most often under the snow, one of the artist's leitmotifs. I no longer present René Juste, an important painter of the Crozant school. René Camille Juste, born in Paris in 1868, established his studio in Marlotte in Seine et Marne where he was curator of the museum .He was Cormon's student and participated in the Salon des Artistes Français from 1902. He quickly became friends with his colleague Albert Joseph, together they traveled through England, Italy and also the Maghreb. Back in France, they both went to the same places including Brittany, Creuse, Collioure, Ile de France etc... René Juste first had a pointillist period where he excelled, quite close to Léon Detroy, another friend, then like Albert Joseph he found his own style thanks to a more stylized touch, with large flat areas closer to Fauvism than Impressionism. He painted in Brittany in Finistère (Faou), in the Côtes d'Armor in Bréhat, but also in Creuse in Crozant where he rubbed shoulders with Léon Detroy, Armand Guillaumin, Paul Madeline and of course his faithful friend Albert Joseph. His works can be found in several museums, at the Luxembourg Museum, Tours, etc. This canvas is now in very good condition after cleaning and restoration by a professional, so major cleaning, re-tensioning of the canvas on its original frame, kraft paper tension strip, 2/3 tiny repairs and fillings with gold paint on the frame,. Period frame. Work guaranteed authentic
