"Pierre Jérôme Lordon, Scene From Ancient History. Circa 1800"
Pierre Jérôme Lordon was born in Guadeloupe. He entered the studio of Pierre Paul Prudhon with whom he became friends. He also took classes with the sculptor Lemire. He had a great career as a painter, exhibiting at the Salon between 1806 and 1838. He won the gold medal for his communion of Atala, now kept at the Musée de La Vie Romantique. He was appreciated at the Brussels Salon in 1811 with a second prize: "Agar and her child sent away by Abraham". He executed paintings for churches. Works in the following museums: Angers, Paris, Dijon, Cathedral of the Holy Cross of Paris, Avignon (Calvet Museum). Our little modello offers us an enigmatic subject. It is signed on the front and annotated Lordon on the frame.
