Superb pencil holder in silver and enameled gold by Andrei Adler, goldsmith at Fabergé.

The body of the pencil is in guilloché silver and midnight blue enamel.
A pink gold ring with a green gold leaf frieze enhances the opening.
A yellow gold bail at the other end allows the pencil holder to be worn on a chatelaine or as a pendant.

The cap holding the pencil is in pink gold.

The pencil marked Johann Faber is most likely the original one.

The pencil holder is hallmarked:
. 56 zolotnik for 583 thousandth gold
. Profile of a woman looking to the right: kokosnik used from 1908 to 1917
. Goldsmith's mark: AA for Andrei Adler

Andrei Adler was one of the most renowned goldsmiths of the Fabergé workshop, active from 1855 to 1912. As a reward for the quality of his work, he received the title of Supplier to the Imperial Court of Russia. Within the Fabergé workshop, he produced superb enameled objects, including this pencil holder.
