This serious text by Mr Duclos of the Royal Academy of Inscriptions and Belles-Lettres retraces: "the History of Louis XI", in three beautiful volumes in 12, full calf smooth spine, gilt irons, titles and volume numbers in red and tan morocco, triple fillets on the covers with fleurs-de-lys in the corners, marbled guards, red edges, beautiful coats of arms struck in gold on the covers. Copy in good condition, very complete with a beautiful representation of the bust of the King after the tomb of Notre Dame de Cléri in marble, drawn by Fessard and engraved by Jaura; this little-known King but so important for nascent France (dedication to the Count of Maurepas) in a captivating story.... The Author transports us into the tumultuous world of 15th century France, where Royal power and that of the Courtiers are at stake. Very complete work in its binding with coat of arms
