Very Fine Silver Sundial by Butterfield in Paris C.1700 Typical model of Butterfield production made in silver. Dials with four scales, two with Arabic numerals (4-12-8) and two with Roman numerals (IIII-XII-VIII), for latitudes 43-49-52 divided into 30 minutes and subdivided into 15 minutes. Beautiful floral decoration in the center. Beautiful signature of Butterfield Back of the dial engraved with 24 cities with their respective latitudes. Compass with 16 directions. Very fine engraving from one of the greatest manufacturers of scientific instruments of the late 17th century.
