Beautiful and luminous Greek icon representing the Virgin of Iveria and dating from the middle of the 18th century.
This representation of Mary takes its name from the Orthodox monastery of Iveria located in the Monastic Republic of Mount Athos in Greece.
The icon is finely painted in tempera (paint based on natural pigments and egg yolk) in pastel tones on a blue background of the most beautiful effect. The halos are gilded with gold leaf -- symbol of divine light. 
The wooden panel is further carved in its upper part with vegetal scrolls
Very good state of preservation over all for its age. The wooden panel shows old traces of insect attacks, which have now been neutralized and have not damaged the pictural layer. Wear, cracks, splits and small losses.
