A rare dated blue and white bowl.
Japan, Arita, Tenmei period (1781-1789), c. 1781.

The base dated with a four character Tenmei mark 天明 and First Year 元年 in a square and of the period.

The twelve sided bowl with geometric patterned panels alternated by scenes of buildings in a natural landscape, the centre with a river landscape decoration.
