In the book Catalogue d’exposition Jean-Marc Nattier 1685-1766, October 26, 1999-January 30, 2000, Musée National des châteaux de Versailles et de Trianon, in the chapter “The true students of Jean-Marc Nattier,” Louis Richard François Dupont is named among Nattier’s principal students. The author notes the similarities between the master’s portraits and his own: “They share (…) not only the use of the same disguises and the same compositions, but also a taste for shimmering materials (…) At most, they are distinguished by a predisposition to break the lines and emphasize them with light.” (p. 37)
