Beautiful snuffbox lid, Napoleonic period, 1805, hot-molded burl walnut, representing allegory of  Battle of Austerlitz.
It is only a lid alone, but wood is beautiful, like its patina, a beautiful collector's item 1st Empire
Dimensions = 8.5cm
This top in good general condition, a little wear on reliefs.

Austerlitz: "This battle pitted the Grande Armée commanded by Napoleon Bonaparte, crowned Emperor of the French a year to the day before, against the troops of Francis I, Emperor of Austria and the Holy Roman Empire, and the Russian forces of Alexander I, Tsar of Russia. The three sovereigns were present on the battlefield, hence its nickname "Battle of the Three Emperors". After nine hours of fighting, Napoleon's Grand Army, despite its numerical inferiority, routed, surrounded and decisively defeated the forces of the Third Coalition, which dissolved after the battle, forcing Austria to sign the Peace of Pressburg."
