Solid silver and silver-gilt box from the mid-18th century with screwed lid.

The box is round, in plain solid silver, with a screwed lid.
The interior is in silver-gilt.

It is probably a toiletry box, to put a blush or other ointment in.
Screwed boxes from the 18th century are relatively rare.

The box is hallmarked:
. Crowned A: charge hallmark for Paris between 1744 and 1750
. Crowned date letter barely legible, probably an H for 1748
. Discharge hallmark from the same period: a salmon head

Magnificent beauty box, a very beautiful testimony to the art of living during the reign of King Louis XV.
The box is very heavy for its dimensions, a sign of quality old manufacturing.
