Abbé Haüy (René, Just), (1743 – 1822) was Honorary Canon of Notre-Dame de Paris, mineralogist, founder of the collections of the Ecole des Mines, the Museum of Natural History and the University, member of the Academies of Sciences of Paris, Saint Petersburg and Berlin. He was a knight of the Legion of Honor, born in Saint-Just in Picardy on February 28, 1743.
