GEORGES REGNAULT was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine on April 8, 1898
After studying at the BERNARD PALISSY school, he entered the School of Fine Arts where he had, as teachers, P.A. LAURENS for painting and BOTTE and VLERICK for sculpture.
Medalist of the City of Paris and of Fine Arts, he made various decorations, notably at the Amiens theater, at the Normandy Chamber of Commerce, the 1924 Exhibition, the 1931 Colonial Exhibition and the 1937 International Exhibition.
For 20 years, he was the artistic delegate to Prefectures and Cities of France for the organization of large popular festivals such as those of the Wines of France in Macon and Beaune, the festivals of Arles, Tours, jubilees and anniversaries, etc., leading the pictorial and sculptural art. He is the author of various giants of the North, Artistic Delegate of the celebrations of the Tri-fiftieth anniversary of the Revolution in Tours, Poitiers, Paris.
He exhibited in France from 1948 to 1954 in Tours, Angoulême, Nice, Royan, Vichy, Paris. In 1951, in Paris, he painted a large set of twelve canvases relating the life of Don Quixote. Abroad, he exhibited in Caracas, Madrid, Granada, Barcelona, ​​San Francisco.
He was the subject of purchases by the State and his works can be found in the Museums of Saint-Germain en Laye, Tours, Nice, at the Prefecture of Versailles and abroad, in those of San Francisco, Madrid, Granada, Mexico.
After his exhibitions in Spain, the Grand Prix GOYA allowed him to paint popular life in Spain and he won the Hispano-South American Critics Prize and, for several years, our SALON presented beautiful paintings of Spain.
He is the author of large frescoes and portraits in Spain: Bread Festival, Seville Fair, Bullfights, etc. In France, frescoes at the Pavillon Henri IV in Saint-Germain en Laye, at the "Coq Hardi" in Bougival, at the Banque Coopérative du Bâtiment in Paris. Among the portraits, let us mention that of H.M. the Sultan of Morocco Mohamed V, for his Palace in Rabat.
To these works should be added the drawings of costumes and sets for the opera ballet "The Scarecrow and the Bird" at the Palais de la Méditerranée in Nice.

A member of various Salons, he was Vice-President of our WINTER SALON.
Since 1961, he worked on the renovation, restoration, wall decoration and execution of frescoes at the Palais du Luxembourg.
In 1968, he exhibited at the Louveciennes Town Hall, 50 impressionist paintings in glory of Auguste RENOIR.
In 1971, for the centenary of RENOIR's stay in Louveciennes, he held a major exhibition of 70 impressionist paintings at the Town Hall of this locality.
In 1973, in memory of the painter PISSARO, who lived in Louveciennes, he again held a major exhibition in the same Hôtel de Ville (90 paintings).
Exhibition in Chicago and Japan.
Knight of the Legion of Honor.
In 1969, he executed 12 paintings for America at the painter RENOIR's with a view to founding a Museum dedicated to this great Artist.
In 1973, he founded "The Bougival Academy of Painting" and, every year, he was happy and proud to introduce us to some of his students whom we were pleased to welcome to our SALON.
In 1978, for his 80th birthday, he held an exhibition entitled "60 Years of Painting" which brought together personalities from the region.
By decree, dated 31-12-78 he was elevated to the rank of Officer in the Order of the Legion of Honor and ardently desired that this distinction be conferred on him by the Prefect. Unfortunately his wish could not be fulfilled and on Wednesday March 7, 1979 he was buried in the Bougival cemetery in the family vault.
He lived on rue Tourgueniev in Bougival, a house very close to the Seine from where he could evoke the time of the guinguettes and the boaters who immortalized these places which were the classic land of the impressionist movement and where the great masters of this movement such as PISSARO, SISLEY, MONET, RENOIR among others stayed.
