Elegant small flying table signed by Émile Gallé. Art Nouveau period. (late 19th century) Rare small walnut table by Émile Gallé with its top decorated with precious wood marquetry of flowering branches and crocus flowers. Signature at the bottom right of the top. Signature called "Japanese". Rests on a straight walnut base. Perfect stability. High quality furniture with French varnish finish. Precious wood marquetry used for the top is used to create an effect of relief and depth. Top on which a floral arrangement is engraved. The flowers represented are crocuses with their stems and their open flowers. Fine and delicate petals with a slightly rounded shape. They are opening, revealing the inside of the flower. Bright yellow petals contrasting with the dark wood of the top. Fine and elongated stems slightly curved which gives a natural appearance to the bouquet. Small table with sober and elegant lines by Émile Gallé (1846-1904), famous French glassmaker, ceramist and cabinetmaker. Founder of the Nancy school in 1901. Renowned for his mastery of glass paste, his innovative marquetry as well as his decorative repertoire inspired by nature. Beautiful discovery condition.
