"The port of Sanary sur Mer (Var)"
Oil on canvas,
Signed lower left,
Beautiful work by the Corsican painter, Tony Cardella, which represents a view of the port of Sanary sur Mer in the Var.
The foreground shows us fishing boats in the small port of the town of Sanary. The second plane offers us a view of the town of Sanary sur Mer: the bell tower of the Saint-Nazaire church, the Marie Esménard quay, ..
His bright and colorful palette wonderfully transcribes the colors and light of the shores of the Mediterranean.
Attached to his Corsican roots, Tony Cardella will not cease through his painting to represent landscapes of the Isle of Beauty. He later came to settle in the Var and will focus on painting the small villages of the Var hinterland and the marinas of the Mediterranean.
In 1941, the artist completed admirable paintings for the interior of the Franciscan Church of L'ile Rousse, giving this place of worship its primary function of meditation and prayer once again.
He participated in numerous exhibitions both in mainland France and in Corsica, where his talent was rewarded and acclaimed by critics.
Dimensions: 54 x 65 cm without frame and 64 x 75 cm with its wooden frame.
