"Antique Fan, “the Rape Of Persephone”, Circa 1740 "
Louis XV period fan. The English-style mounted leather leaf is painted on each side. On one side a superb scene representing the abduction of Persephone by the God Hades. On the reverse side, fishermen by the sea. Beautiful engraved, pierced and painted ivory mount (With CITES number). An old reinforcement on the bottom of one of the plumes, barely visible, the entire fan is in very good condition. It measures 11,22 inches closed and 20,47 inches in diameter. Circa 1740.
