Of a remarkable glaze and of a respectable age; around 1620, this beautiful representation on a strong sycamore panel of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker seated on his throne, wearing his tiara, brandishing his scepter in his hand. Impressive representation in its ogive niche covered with gold leaf on a dark background decorated with baroque foliage. This Icon from the beginning of the 17th century is beautiful in symbolism and enigmatic despite the ravages of time due to its great age, this piece is of astonishing symbolism and expressiveness with its fine face with a lively gaze and its large bright red alb with golden braid. A real piece of unusual curiosity and strongly charged with Orthodox Religious mysticism; a beautiful subject which comes from an important collection, most of which comes from the greatest "Great Antique Dealers", notably German and Swiss.
