Raphael Dubois (1888- 1960)
Belgian painter from the post-impressionist movement, he is known for his luminous paintings of figures, scenes of life, landscapes, city views and still lifes. Student of E. Carpentier at the academy of Liège between 1902 and 1903. He subsequently exhibited in Paris in 1911 and was very successful. After the First World War, he settled in Montparnasse where he painted on location. He then stayed in Nice from 1930 to 1939 and then in Paris and Brussels during the 1940-1945 war.
