Biography:
Gilbert Poillerat (1902 - June 29, 1988) was a French decorator and master ironworker. His work, often inspired by the art of the 17th and 18th centuries, is the hallmark of French elegance. He also excelled in the art of medal chasing. Gilbert Poillerat graduated from the Boulle school in 1921 and spent eight years with Edgar Brandt. He quickly became one of the leading French ironworkers (Raymond Subes, Emile Robert) after initially devoting himself to chasing and painting. The arabesques on his balustrades made him known to the public. They are, like a winged writing, crossed by memories and sweet visions of childhood. Its high bronze doors, decorated with robust and graceful motifs, turn smoothly. His great era is certainly that which goes from the 30s to the 50s. There, he innovates before the others...
