A pair of Louis XVI period ormolu sconces with quivers circa 1780An elegant and decorative pair of two-arm quiver sconces in finely chiseled gilt bronze. They are beautifully decorated with a classic Louis XVI ribbon knot supporting a twisted fluted quiver laden with flowers, in the center of the pompom trimmings, the shafts ending in Acanthus leaves.
Beautiful French work from the Louis XVI period, circa 1780.
These sconces are similar to the three-light model kept in the Royal Palace of Pavlovsk in Russia, possibly commissioned by Maria-Feodorovna and Paul 1st of Russia, during their visit to Paris as Count and Countess of the North in 1783. Also similar to a pair in the Château de Moncley (Doubs).
