"Mario Pinetti (1895-1964) "ors Channel, Oléron Island C. 1940". Charente, Lessieux, Enard, Suire"
New beautiful oil on canvas by Mario Pinetti representing the Ors channel on the island of Oléron around 1940/1950, signed lower right. Size of the canvas alone without frame 46x55cm. This is therefore a new post-impressionist composition by Mario Pinetti who once again paints a view of the island of Oléron, his adopted island, here the Ors channel in the south of the island, with its fishermen's huts. We immediately recognize Pinetti's touch and palette, thanks to his browns, purples, ochres, greens, grays and blues and especially his ability to transcribe or even sublimate the lights so particular to Oléron, also called the island of light. Customers and people who know me know my attachment to the island of Oléron and its painters, I already have about fifteen paintings by Pinetti including a channel of Ors, hence my desire to offer it for sale, otherwise I would have kept it because it is truly a very beautiful composition. We know very little about Mario Pinetti, except that he was of Italian origin, that he had a studio in Paris and that he lived a large part of the year on the island of Oléron. A professional painter, he lived only thanks to his painting, exhibited in many salons, including in Paris. Despite a large majority of paintings on Oléron, he also traveled all over France, because he painted in Ile de France, in Provence, in the Alps etc... In the 1930s he will create superb compositions animated by characters, then over time will devote himself almost only to pure landscapes, as well as still lifes. He will mainly use oil but will not disdain gouache with which he will create superb compositions, I have in particular a sublime port of La Cotinière in this technique. Mario Pinetti is today one of the essential painters of the Charente school and therefore more precisely of the island of Oléron, alongside his colleagues Louis and Ernest Lessieux, Boucart, Raymond and Paul Enard, Verger, Suire, Ernest Chevalier, Heiligenstein or Gaston Balande (see works offered for sale) etc.... He was very well represented during the exhibition which took place at the museum of Saint-Pierre d'Oléron in 2022, "Oléron an island, landscapes" exhibition accompanied by an interesting book that I highly recommend. This oil on canvas is in very good condition, delivered protected on the back by a wooden panel and framed in a period frame. Work guaranteed authentic
