Michel Ciry (1919-2018
Born on August 31, 1919 in La Baule, Michel Ciry is a French artist with multiple talents: painter, engraver, writer and composer. From the 1940s, he was noted for his highly sensitive engravings, which quickly earned him international fame. His works are exhibited in prestigious galleries and museums in France and abroad, including the Louvre, the British Museum and the MoMA in New York. Among his distinctions, he received the Grand Prix National des Arts in 1960, confirming his place in the world of contemporary art. His career is marked by exhibitions in renowned places, such as the Museum of Modern Art in Paris )and the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg. Michel Ciry died on December 26, 2018, in Varengeville-sur-Mer, leaving a rich artistic legacy, marked by an introspective and deeply humanist style.
