Meissen porcelain group from the mythology series depicting Europa with roses in her hair, sitting on the bull (Zeus), in the foreground a kneeling woman offering her roses in a basket, on the side a seated woman decorating the bull with garlands of roses. Model created by Johann Friedrich Eberlein around 1748. Mark of the blue crossed swords and numbered 2697. Very good condition, small losses in the leaves, see photos. In Greek mythology, upon seeing Europa, Zeus would have fallen in love with her beauty and grace, and would have immediately implemented a very clever plan. To avoid triggering the hatred of his jealous wife Hera and to be able to clear his way to the young girl, Zeus decided to metamorphose into a ravishing white bull.
