Rosewood Craft Cabinet opening with 18 small drawers, decorated with decorative brass strips and stars. The drawers are fitted with pull rings on their square front and their interior is composed of 3 compartments. Originally used by an apothecary to store herbs, roots and other remedies used in traditional medicine, this cabinet has paneled sides, straight legs and a small molded cornice. Made in the region of Pondicherry, a former French trading post in the Indies, this piece of furniture is richly decorated with brass contrasting with the intensity of the rosewood. ******** Period: Late 19th century Excellent condition after Restoration in our Workshop.
