"Venus: Bronze From The Grand Tour, Italy 19th"
On a circular base stands the goddess of love and beauty, delicately wearing a diadem. She stands, leaning slightly. True to the grace that characterizes her, she is frozen in mid-movement, her left arm raised to the level of her gaze in order to contemplate the pearl that she clasps in her fingers. Her right arm, lower down, draws a diagonal that reveals the elegance of her half-undressed body and thereby the anatomical mastery of the sculptor. This know-how is found in the quality of the folds that run through the fabric in which she is draped, thus giving life to the bronze.
Our work is in line with the bronzes published during the 19th century, reproducing famous sculptures from Antiquity, namely here the Venus of Capua, a marble statue dating from around 130 BC, discovered during archaeological excavations.
