"Japan - Butsudan - Daizuigu-bosatsu - Meiji - 19th"
Very beautiful Butsudan in which we find the bodhisattva Daizuigu-bosatsu in meditation, seated in the lotus position on a richly carved pyramidal throne in front of a Mandorla decorated in its center with a lotus flower, itself surrounded by a multitude of circles filled with Japanese characters placed on a lotus flower. The temple porch is beautifully carved and decorated with a blue and gold drape. The whole is in gilded and lacquered wood. The temple itself is in black painted and lacquered wood. The closure is decorated with floral motifs and the hinges are decorated with a Lotus flower, all in copper. Very good condition except for a few small traces of time. The Matrix mandala classifies this one in the Avalokitesvara section and certain sutras go so far as to affirm that it is identical to the latter. He was prayed to for his role as servant and protector. Origin: Japan. Dimensions: Height: 38.5 cm, width with doors open: 38.5 cm. Period: Meiji era (1868-1912) - 19th. Condition: Very good general condition except for some small missing attributes.
