"Rare Indienne Tapestry With Printed Picots And Tricolor Siamese - Provence Circa 1780"
Circa 1780 Provence Rare hanging or table runner in picots and tricolor Siamese from a noble castle in Vaucluse. The picots and flower-sewn Indian fabric is probably from a factory in the south of France around 1760 (Orange, Aix-en-Provence, Marseille?). Its printing defects and the visibility of the wooden boards are particularly moving. This French Indian fabric is similar to the chafarcani, canvases printed in the Levant. It is lined on the reverse side with a blue, white, red striped Siamese fabric that was fashionable before the French Revolution. Some micro stains and period mending, otherwise no holes or stains. Beautiful condition of color and conservation for its age. Its precise provenance will be communicated to the buyer. Dimensions: 213 cm x 68 cm
