"14 Carat Gold Box With Cameo Decor, Late 18th Century"
  • Beautiful 14 carat rose gold shuttle-shaped toothpick box, the hinged lid is decorated with an oval medallion of carnelian applied with an antique man's profile in low relief in vermeil and a laurel frieze around the edge.
  • Mercury mirror inside the lid.
  • Unidentified hallmarks inside, on either side of the letters E K.
  • Tested 14 carat gold with a touchstone: weight without the mirror 20.9g
  • note that:
  • Bottom reattached, traces of tin soldering.
  • Repair to the hinge Junction of the edge to the tip not touching.
  • Mirror pitted.
  • Dimensions 7.9cm x 2.2cm x 1.1cm
