Very pretty watercolor representing fishermen at the foot of a bridge and the ruins of a castle. Late 18th - early 19th century. Signed lower left C THIENON. Drawing dimensions: 15.2 x 20cm Frame dimensions: 31.1 x 36.8 cm (small losses to the frame) Claude Thienon is a French painter, draftsman and lithographer who was a student of Louis Gabriel Moreau. He is a painter of countryside landscapes, urban landscapes and genre scenes. He exhibited landscapes at the Paris Salon from 1798 to 1833. He is close to the imperial family and cousin of the painter Jean Baptiste Isabey. Under the Empire he will be the official draftsman of the King of Holland Louis Bonaparte.
