"Oil On Canvas "young Farmer And His Donkey" 65 X 54 Cm"
“Young farmer and his donkey” Oil on canvas signed lower left by Creixams. Dimensions: 65 x 54 cm. Pere Creixams Pico (1893-1965), Spanish School. Born in Barcelona, Pere Creixams left Catalonia in 1917 to settle in France. He settled in Montparnasse, where he worked for a time in the printing industry. His first paintings date from the early 1920s. His art was influenced by the artists he met within the intellectual community of Montmartre, such as Achille-Émile Othon Friesz (1879-1949) and Amedeo Modigliani (1884-1920), as well as by the great masters of the Spanish school whom he particularly admired. In 1922, he settled in Montmartre, where he met his compatriot Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), for whom he had a certain admiration. Picasso's influence can be seen in the subjects that Creixams painted during the 1920s, notably acrobats, musicians and the underprivileged. Creixams would keep his studio on the hill of Montmartre for many years, and would be nicknamed "the Catalan of Montmartre".
