Our sculpture depicts two seated putti (or cupids) embracing each other in a gesture of tenderness rarely seen in Baroque sculpture. These two embracing cupids, probably originally having had their counterpart, were designed to decorate a chapel. Their position was studied so that they would sit in the corner of an entablature, as shown in the photographs.
