He began painting in oils around 1950, very influenced by the work of André Lhote. Encouraged by Max Vignon (art critic), he exhibited in Paris in 1951 and met with great success. He settled there temporarily and participated in numerous Parisian exhibitions including the Salon des peintres témoins de leur temps in 1956. He also exhibited in Tokyo, Athens, etc... He received multiple awards during all these years. Many of his works have gone into private collections and official purchases are made by Museums, Ministries, Administrations. He also paints in Brittany and Spain. Gaston Larrieu puts, on a large number of his paintings, at the last moment, a spot of red, giving the latter a dynamic vibration. Monique Dittière, art critic said of him: His painting delights the eye and the heart, the painter Larrieu is true, spontaneous. His painting is alive, generous, with a liveliness of expression that makes it even more endearing. Dimensions: without frame: 81cm x 60cm with frame 89,( cm x 68cm
