"Pendulum. Genius Of Science By Auguste Moreau"
The Genius of Science. Mantelpiece or table clock composed of a pendulum as a central element and 2 vases as pendants. Late 19th century by A. Moreau. Spelter with double brown and green patina resting on a marble base placed on 4 spinning top feet. The pendulum is placed on a support decorated with musical and reading attributes framed by garlands of flowers. The Genius stands proudly holding an open book in his left hand and a torch at arm's length in his right hand. The blade movement (Brocot) is signed on the rear plate by Félix Marti, gold medalist in Paris in 1900 and marked Duplanil in Saint-Etienne on its painted dial. Good working order. Very slight signs of wear. Very good presentation condition. Brass label on the front marked "Le Génie des Sciences par A. Moreau" (Auguste Moreau 1834 – 1917).
