"Vera Székely - Glazed Lava Stone"
Side table - end table in polychrome enamelled lava stone on a red background, decoration on the theme of the game. The base is in black patinated metal. This piece is not signed, it was probably part of a set of several tables of identical sizes. Traces of oxidation on the metal frame but no accidents or restorations. Around 1950-60. Vera Székely was born in Hungary in 1919. Arriving in France with her husband Pierre Székely, they created a ceramic workshop in Bure-sur-Yvette (91) helped by André Borderie at the end of the 1940s. The utilitarian pieces, sculptures or tables are sometimes signed ''SZB'' or Székely-Borderie. Each creation is unique, they produced, among other works, a wall decoration in ceramic tiles for the ornamentation of the Bateau Ivre. The group split up at the end of the 1950s, and Vera continued her artistic production of great variety alone in the 1960s, until her death in 1994 in Janvry (Essonne).
