Height: 27 cm - Width: 37 cm Provenance: Artist's studio funds (see ref. cp L'Huillier sale of Friday, December 16, 2011/Drouot - Richelieu - Room 2 lot n°256) Herbert Chevalier Haseltine (1877–1962) was a Franco-American animal sculptor of Italian origin, best known as an equestrian sculptor. After the success of his first sculpture, he continued his artistic career. Inspired by the gathering of artists from around the world in the Montparnasse district of Paris, Haseltine chose to settle in Paris for thirty-five years, until the German occupation of France during World War II. He moved to the United States, was elected to the National Academy of Design as an associate member, and became a full academician in 1946.
