The box is oval, in silver and vermeil.
The base and the lid are decorated with friezes of silver palmettes.
The body is in plain vermeil.
The lid, decorated with quatrefoils and falling bases, is decorated with a superb enameled medallion, probably on copper, with a romantic decoration.
It represents a couple of shepherds in love near an antique fountain, symbol of hidden love; a bouquet of flowers including roses; a dog, symbol of fidelity; a lamb, symbol of purity and innocence; etc.
This medallion is very finely executed, the line is clear and precise, all the details are faithfully represented and the colors are bright and shimmering. It is a work of high quality.
This enamel is enhanced by a large and magnificent 18k gold frame made of a ribbon wrapped around a plain hoop.
The interior is in vermeil.
The box is hallmarked:
. Minerva 1st title before 1973 for 950/°° silver
. Poorly struck goldsmith's hallmark to identify: ?R with an amphora
I did not find a hallmark on the gold hoop but it was tested with a touchstone.
Very beautiful quality box, the silver walls are thick with a frank and marked decoration of quality. The enameled medallion is beautiful in its great finesse, all enhanced by this large gold hoop.
