It is by the hand of Willy Eisenschitz, a painter born in Vienna, Austria on October 27, 1889, who, in 1931, due to arthritis problems, prevented him from continuing oil painting and devoted himself to watercolor, the technique of which he would master perfectly.
Willy Eisenschitz opposed the wishes of his father's lawyer to follow courses at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna from 1911.
He joined Paris in 1912 and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière.
He met the painter Claire Bertrand and married in 1914.
Arrested in 1914 as an Austrian subject, he was detained in an internment camp.
In 1917 a lung disease forced him to change climate and leave for Switzerland with his family. They returned to Paris in 1920.
A trip to Provence made him discover its very special light and change the interpretation of its landscapes.
As previously indicated in 1931 arthritis in his right shoulder prevented him from painting with his right hand and he began to draw with his left hand. He then devoted himself to watercolor and developed a dense and very colorful technique for works that would be successfully exhibited.
From his many travels, including Spain and Sudan, he brought back notes and sketches that he then used in the studio.
Art critics noted the influence of Paul Cézanne, Impressionism and Cubism in his works.
He exhibited in the main salons and many galleries: at Berthe Weil following a trip to Italy.
He was a member of the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts and the Salon d'Automne in Paris and also appeared at the Salon des Tuileries.
In 1957 the Musée de Toulon organized a major retrospective of his work.
In 1964 he actively participated in the Biennale des peintres de Provence in Aix-en-Provence.
He died on July 8, 1974 in Paris.
