The artist
Pierre Bonnaud is a painter born in Lyon in 1865 and died in the same city in 1930. He first attended the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in his city and then that of Paris, where he was a student of Gustave Moreau. Part of his work, symbolist, reveals the strong influence of this artist. He gradually freed himself from it and painted many portraits of Lyon personalities and genre scenes.
He regularly won medals at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he exhibited from 1890. He also worked for fashion magazines.
Some of his works are exhibited at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. Others have been the subject of public sales, but Pierre Bonnaud remains a rare painter.
