Louis 16 chiffonier, Stamped MONTIGNY (1734-1800), 18th Century Period. It is in rosewood marquetry, surrounded by Greek fillets, It opens on the front with 3 drawers, one of which is a writing desk. It measures 44 cm in length, 33 cm in width and 71 cm in height. MONTIGNY Philippe-Claude Philippe Claude Montigny (1734-1800) – Parisian cabinetmaker – master's degree obtained on January 29, 1766: A talented cabinetmaker, Philippe Claude Montigny distinguished himself with his works produced in the first Louis XVI style known as "Greek". Son of Louis Montigny, a privileged worker of the King, Philippe Claude Montigny owned a workshop in the Contrescarpe district of Paris. He was also the brother-in-law of Fidelis Schey, a cabinetmaker who was admitted as a master in Paris in 1777. Along with Levasseur, he was one of the few restorers of Boulle marquetry medallists for the furniture of the Crown. The Almanach Dauphin even presented him in 1778 as "one of the most renowned for tortoiseshell and silver or ebony and copper furniture, in the style of the works of the famous Boulle". He also produced numerous works for the greatest merchants of his time.
