"Boats moored at the gates of the village". Oil on canvas signed lower left Goris. French school. 60 X 92 cm. Maurice Goris was born in 1901 in Paris. He was a student of Louis Marie Desiré-Lucas (1869-1949) and Pierre Eugène Montezin (1874-1946). He exhibited at the Salon des Artistes français as well as the Salon des Indépendants. Montezin's influence is significant in this work. The technique used by Maurice Goris, characterized by thick strokes and flat areas of material scattered in the foliage of the trees, recalls the art of Montezin.
