Oil on canvas Presented in a very beautiful 17th century frame in very finely carved wood, with its original gilding. Total dimensions with its frame: 95 x 82 cm. The canvas alone: 74 x 61 cm. This portrait, executed around 1685, focused on the model, strikes with a sparkling, mischievous look, and a calm and serene expression which gives the face a particularly lively character. The social importance of the character who is represented very young is highlighted with little artifice; a pearl gray velvet dress decorated with fine lace and a red stole, garnet color. Her hairstyle typical of the period is called "à la fontange" This beautifully crafted painting is from the studio of the painter François de Troy (Toulouse 1645 - Paris November 21, 1730). Coming from a family of Languedoc artists, he was trained in Paris in the studio of Claude Lefebvre who taught him the profession of portrait painter.
