"The Last of the Mohicans" by Nicanor Plaza (1844 - 1917), a student at the School of Fine Arts in Santiago and, in France, of the sculptor Jouffroy. Statue presented twice at the Salon of the Society of French Artists, in plaster, in 1868 and in bronze in 1869. The sculpture represents the hero Toqui Caupolican, a historical figure, an Araucan warrior who led the insurrection against the Spanish conquistadors. With a foundry stamp "fabrication française".
