A student of Hippolyte Pradelles then of Henri Harpignies, very influenced by Gustave Courbet and Camille Corot with whom he was a friend, Cabié began to participate in the Salon des Artistes Français in 1887, then in the Paris Salon from 1894 where he obtained numerous medals, including that of the Legion of Honor in 1908. After settling in Paris in 1903 which he left definitively in 1919, he created his studio in Bordeaux in which he taught Louis Marius Gueit and François Bugnicourt. His landscapes are the main testimony of the Charentes, the Périgord, the Bordeaux and the Landes. His soft palette of enamelled colours catches the eye and contributes to the impression of tranquillity that emanates from all his work. His works are present in many museums, including the Musée du Luxembourg, the museums of Orsay, Bordeaux, Alençon, Angers, Saintes and Périgueux.
