Belgian sculptor and statuary, he trained at the Academy of Brussels with Eugène Simonis before exhibiting at the Brussels Salon in 1875, 1877, 1878 and 1884. He won second prize at the General Sculpture Competition in 1877. He made five statues for the main façade of the Brussels City Hall as well as three allegories for the inner courtyard and other commissions for the State, including a bronze bust of the architect Louis Van Bodeghem intended for the Brussels museum. He participated several times in the Belgian Exhibition of Contemporary Art of Philadelphia where he was awarded a bronze medal in 1883. In 1888, he created his masterpiece, "La Famille" which was installed at the Museum of Fine Arts in Brussels. He was part of the selection committee at the Universal Exhibition in Chicago with Constantin Meunier.
