"Frame: Engraved Steel Jewel, Faceted, 18-19th Century, Mavelot Comtal"
Beautiful oval-shaped frame, miniature frame size, all from forged steel, engraved, with two rows of faceted pearls, bail tied with a wavy and striated ribbon, Louis XVI style. This frame was used by a noble family to place their initials, in shape of a silver mavelot under a count's crown inlaid on wood. Steel jewelry work, armory quality, England or France, which was done under Louis XVI, Directory, until the middle of the 19th century.
