Rare because in red morocco (wild Cape goat) this generous oak letter chest covered in leather, has a proud appearance, with its beautiful lock entry with a grotesque head (gilded with gold) and its facade richly decorated with bronze nails and pretty bronze shuttles domed and polished gilded; arranged at regular intervals faceted bronze ornaments fixed by steel pins with pyramidal heads (4 + 4). The very slightly domed lid decorated in the same spirit more soberly with in its center a beautiful fine fistrée of beaten iron, the three sides and back are sober and covered with this remarkable morocco leather in the beautiful garnet color. It is of respectable size and has retained its interior sheathing of ecru linen which in the lid has a remarkable trellis of ribbons braided with gold and gilded studs to place the letters in waiting. A piece of high decorative value, elegant and noble from the second half of the 17th century, useful as beautiful, this large box can still be of service to you by hiding its secrets....
