Object description :

"Limestone Altar Stone And Its Relic – 19th Century "
It is difficult to assign a precise date to our altar stone. Imposing with its dimensions, it has its tomb in which a relic has been inserted. The altar stone is undoubtedly the most sacred element in a church.
Meeting point between the earthly and celestial worlds, it is here that the Divine operates. To be consecrated, a relic was also sealed there and obligatorily. Our altar stone still has its relic inserted in the side of this stone. We find there the 5 classic crosses which represent the five wounds of Christ. These consecration crosses are usually twelve in number during the consecration of a church, like the number of apostles, and five of these crosses are traditionally engraved on the altar stone.
Last signature, the 33 cm of length can only unconsciously remind us of the crucifixion, of which the Altar stone reminds us of the Sacrifice of Christ. In numerology the number 33 is a sacred number representing the Divine Truth .... Syncretism or will, everyone will see the answer they want. Dimensions of 33 cm by 33 and 2.5 cm thick
Good condition - some scratches and micro chips.
