Very large painted bark panel from a ceremonial hut collected in the Blackwater area in Papua New Guinea. This assembly of painted bark constitutes a fresco that evokes clan myths. These panels are fixed on the inner face of the roofs of men's huts, which they almost entirely cover. Sago palm petiole, wood and pigments.
