Oil on canvas from the 1980s depicting the banks of the Seine by the post-impressionist painter Gérard Barthélémy (1937-2002)*
This work has three titles, "promenade sur la Seine", "Bonjour" and "printemps sur la Seine" so I call it "promenade au printemps sur la Seine".
Beautiful luminosity typical of the work of this great artist.

*Gérard Barthélémy was born in 1937, grew up in Paris in the Sainte-Anne hospital He studied at the École des métiers d'art in Paris, and participated in the Salon de la Jeune Peinture in 1965.
Winner of the Prix de Rome in painting and drawing in 1966, he stayed for four years at the Villa Medici, then directed by the painter Balthus.
From 1973, he held several exhibitions in the Claude Bernard, Jeanne Bucher and Hélène Trintignan galleries, as well as numerous group exhibitions.
He collaborated for a long time with the magazine and the publishing house La Délirante, providing numerous drawings, covers and posters, and illustrating texts by Matsuo Bashô, Octavio Paz, JM Synge, Percy B. Shelley, Guido Cavalcanti and Fouad El-Etr. In his last years, Gérard Barthélémy had withdrawn from traditional art circles, galleries and museums, and sold his works to individuals.
He is the father of the singer and musician Julien Barthélémy, known as "King Ju", co-founder of the group Stupeflip
