Bamoun Ceremonial Pipe Cameroon

Bamoun ceremonial pipe, large bronze pipe from Cameroon, composed of pieces cast with the lost wax system, the anthropomorphic bowl topped with a large filigree turban, two smaller spheres also adorning the central part of the pipe. These objects loaded with tobacco or cannabis which, at the end of the ceremony, was distributed among the subjects. They were exhibited by Bamoun dignitaries during ceremonies, but were neither intended to be used nor actually usable. Old manufacture circa 1930. In good condition with pleasant vintage patina. Total length 47cm. Bowl dimensions: Height 16.5 cm, width 12cm depth 12 cm.
