A perfumer based in Rue Limogeanne in Périgueux, Roger Favard developed his talent during the war, while he was a prisoner and painted portraits of his comrades. Back in the capital of Périgord, he took part in various local exhibitions, mainly presenting landscapes of the surroundings of Périgueux. Our very large panel most certainly represents the Isle downstream, towards Saint-Astier where the valley widens. The frank, wild accents of this painting are similar to the works of René Laforest, of whom he was a friend.
